YouTube, Copyright, and CC.

Look at that precious boy up there. See him? That's King George III from Hamilton, gracefully animated by the glorious animator Szin, link below.

So, if you are in the Hamilton fandom, there is a chance you have seen at least 1,000 Hamilton animatics. But there is something wrong here. Many of these videos, even channels, have been taken down due to copyright. Why? Because they have the music in the animatics. Ridiculous! These people are showing love to the people who created the songs, musical, everything, and the creators have to go and shut it down.

I'm not looking at Lin Manuel Miranda, the guy is amazing. I mean, he's not the type to shut down a fanbase. The problem is a certain company - WMG. Warner Music Group. They have taken out many animatics, even a channel called Mush Roomie, who makes fantastic animatics, and people's hard work has gone to waste!

We need to stop this. First, we'll look at Creative Commons. "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use." First, if you are putting music up on your channel, or anything for that matter, think. Is it royalty free? Do you actually have the right to use this?

Most of the time, the answer is no. Putting a disclaimer does not allow you to do what you want with the music. You need permission from the creator/company to use the music. I know I'm contradicting myself, but seriously. What if we could find a way to let these animatics stay up? Mush Roomie could get their channel back, and we could freely show appreciation for what we love.
